2025 Hello COS: Pikes Peak Cog Railway
Saturday, June 7, 2025 (12:00 PM - 4:00 PM) (MDT)
Description
The mountain is calling... Get ready for an epic journey and take a ride on the highest and longest cog railway in the world to the top of Pikes Peak dubbed America's Mountain, standing at 14,115-feet tall. It's also one of only two cog railways in the United States!
The first trains pulled out of the depot and made the trek to the top of Pikes Peak in June of 1891 and since then, it has been one of the most iconic ways to climb America's Mountain. As you make your way through the 9-mile journey, the conductor shares stories and fun facts, while you take in the stunning scenery, several ecosystems, waterfalls, and diverse wildlife. When you finally reach the summit, you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Pikes Peak region that will leave you speechless! This is an adventure that has captivated generations of explorers and travelers with its natural beauty and inspired the song of a nation. Join us and be a part of this amazing journey!
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- Meetup: We will meet up at the passenger platform at 12:00 p.m. to 12:15 p.m. The train leaves promptly at 12:40 p.m. from the depot and we want to make sure we have a headcount and you have your tickets before departure. Please be sure to be at the depot no later than 12:15 p.m. and allow time to park and make your way to the platform.
- Duration: 3 hour round trip. 1 hour 10 minutes to reach the summit; 40 minutes to explore at the top; 1 hour 10 minutes back to the depot.
- Restrooms: There are NO restrooms on board the train. The only restrooms are located at the depot and at the Pikes Peak Visitor Center at the top of the mountain.
- Items allowed on the train: Please keep in mind that space on the train is limited. Items allowed on the train are water and backpacks (any bags must be able to remain in your lap or underneath your seats).
WARNING: The train ride will be taking you above 14,000 ft in elevation, so please be prepared to deal with the change in altitude. Altitude sickness can cause dizziness, feeling lightheaded, or loss of appetite. The best way to prevent these effects is to stay hydrated, so be sure to drink plenty of water prior to your trip, bring lots of water and continue to stay hydrated throughout the trip.
PARKING OPTIONS:
1. There are 4 city parking lots in Manitou Springs and then you can ride the free Route 33 shuttle to the Railway.
2. Parking lot or street parking at the railway with a fee of $20.
ATTIRE:
Casual and comfortable. We highly recommend dressing in layers. The mountain often experiences windy or snowy conditions.
