Topic: Turning Ideas Into Dollars: Panic at the Start
Speakers: Dustin Sapp, COO Formstack & Dr. Benjamin Kwitek, Instructor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, UCCS

Ideas and money are two of the most essential elements in the modern economy.  Ideas can be turned into dollars.  In fact, it is the very essence of innovation and entrepreneurship.  What ideas are lingering in your mind?  Does your company have untapped ideas?  How could your ideas change the game for you, your company or the world?
In this business briefing, Dr. Benjamin Kwitek and Mr. Dustin Sapp will share their experiences and recommendations for new ideas, business creation and monetization. It is not easy but this process is life-changing.  There is no time to panic at the start - just get started.

Dustin Sapp: COO, Formstack
Formstack is a software-as-a-service company that focuses on removing the complexity of everyday business processes.  Dustin is an award-winning business leader and entrepreneur.  Before Formstack, he co-founded three businesses:  TinderBox (now Octiv), Vontoo, and NoInk Communications.  Dustin was instrumental in helping Formstack open a downtown Colorado Springs office at the end of 2017, seeing the city as a natural fit for their company’s growth based on our central location, access to top talent, and quality of life that aligned with their company culture.

Dr. Benjamin Kwitek: Instructor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, UCCS
Benjamin Kwitek is an entrepreneur, inventor, and angel investor. In addition to his role in the BI, he currently serves as President and CEO of InterForm Incorporated. He also helps lead Gellyfish Technology and Roundabout Signs. Many world-class companies, including Acer, Dell, Herman Miller, Lenovo, Pentel and Sony, have licensed his ideas.  He holds degrees and honors from the University of Colorado and Colorado State University – where he completed his PhD research, entitled Driving Economic Development. This looked at partnerships between colleges and high-tech businesses. He has further studied innovation and intellectual property at the Harvard Business School.  Kwitek has appeared in BMW Magazine, Digital Trends, Entrepreneur, Forbes, Rhapsody, Robb Report and newspapers across the United States. He has lectured on patents at Stanford University, where he is a Board Member of IP2. Kwitek enjoys assisting inventors and startups with their innovation strategies.
